We take great pride in supporting resident research and scholarly activity.
The internal medicine residency program pairs residents with faculty, fellows, and other residents who are engaged in academic research to further suit their needs. Residents are able to request up to three research blocks during residency training, and statistical support is available to those with active research projects. All activities performed during research electives will be supervised by the director of internal medicine resident research, Dr. Kavita Batra; the program director, Dr. Aditi Singh; and a research mentor selected by the resident.
The program sponsors residents to present their research findings at regional and national conferences as part of their scholarship activity. They may request up to $1,500 to attend one conference a year and are also eligible to receive one research grant per academic year.
Over the last year, we have upheld a national presence at many conferences, such as ACP, Society of General Internal Medicine (SGIM), American College of Gastroenterology (ACG), American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD), Digestive Disease Week (DDW), American College of Cardiology (ACC), Heart Rhythm Society (HRS), American College of Chest Physicians (CHEST), American Thoracic Society (ATS), and American Heart Association (AHA). We have also published manuscripts in many journals.
