Drs. Jeffrey Ebersole and Katherine Howard (Dental) co-authored “The Periodontal War: Microbes and Immunity,” which seeks greater knowledge about how periodontal disease and the body’s immune system attack and counterattack each other in an effort to achieve homeostasis and maintain good oral health. The article appeared on PubMed in July.
Drs. Eve Chung, Edward Herschaft, and Stanley Nelson (Dental) provided lectures about dental occlusion, tempomandibular disorders, forensic dentistry, case studies, and other topics at Nankai University in Tainjin, China. Dr. Christina Demopoulos (Dental) co-authored “Estimating the Cost of School Sealant Programs with Minimal Data,” which successfully explored and demonstrated a method for calculating annual expenditures for sealant programs. The Journal of Public Health Dentistry published the article in its July issue.
Dr. Christina Demopoulos and Marcia Ditmyer (both Dental) co-authored “Association Between Human Papillomavirus and Oral Health,” which addresses why dental professionals should educate their patients about infection risks. The article appeared in the July issue of Decisions in Dentistry.
Dr. Christina Demopoulos (Dental) authored a white paper titled “Human Papilloma Virus and Oropharyngeal Cancer,” which addresses a dentist’s role in screening for the virus and encourages promotion of the available vaccine. The Association of State and Territorial Dental Directors published the paper on its website July 10.
