A third donor to UNLV has suggested they will pull their contribution to the university if Len Jessup is removed from his position as president.

UNLV President Len Jessup’s decision to sign an agreement conditioning a $14 million donation to the medical school on him keeping his job through 2022 “raises serious questions about Dr. Jessup’s ethics” and “the optics are appalling,” a lawyer for the Nevada System of Higher Education wrote in a legal opinion obtained by The Nevada Independent.

On the heels of reports that there may be an effort to push UNLV President, Dr. Len Jessup out of office, a big donor is pulling a large donation from the school. The I-Team has learned that the Engelstad Foundation is pulling a $14 million donation.

Funding for UNLV’s medical school building may be collapsing as two megadonors, citing concerns over the Nevada Board of Regents’ leadership, have rescinded or begun reconsidering gifts totaling $39 million. Future gifts also are in question.

The I-Team has obtained a letter from UNLV President Len Jessup that was sent out to the campus community Wednesday saying media reports about his pending departure are misleading.

The Nevada Independent is reporting that UNLV president Len Jessup has been given a week to resign or be terminated.

At a time when the state’s colleges are inwardly focused on their own strategic growth, they’re also being asked to look beyond Nevada’s borders for ways to make gains in student success.

Locally based data center company Switch has named the successor to a board member who died in October.
