In 2012, Brookings Mountain West at UNLV and the Brookings Institution collaborated on a book project, “America’s New Swing Region: Changing Politics and Demographics in the Mountain West.” It examined how the politics of Mountain West states — Nevada, Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, New Mexico and Utah — are being reshaped by the region’s changing demography and increased urbanization.

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas has scheduled public events leading up to Wednesday’s presidential debate between Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton and Republican nominee Donald Trump. UNLV’s campus is at 4505 S. Maryland Parkway.

The final presidential debate takes place on Wednesday at the Thomas & Mack Center at UNLV, drawing a lot of national and international attention to the school. The university is expecting over $100 million worth of publicity from the event according to Vince Alberta, Sr. Associate VP of Brand Marketing for UNLV.

For the two presidential candidates and their supporters, the hope for the third and final presidential debate Wednesday night at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) will be to make the most favorable impression upon the millions of people who watch the political spectacle.
