Mehmet Erdem and Seyhmus Baloglu (both Hospitality) have published a research article titled, "Examining the role of personality traits in guestroom technologies," in the Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Insights. It was co-authored with former doctoral student and alumnus, Tevfik Demirciftci. This study identified distinctive characteristics of hotel guests and examined their perception of guestroom technologies in hotels by utilizing the theory of consumer innovativeness and the social influence theory. Findings revealed that technology compassionates are more influenced by their friends when booking a hotel compared to casual users of technology. The study advances the existing literature on guestroom technologies by identifying which ones produce the most customer satisfaction.
