UNLV Film

UNLV Film Festivals

UNLV FILM sponsors three annual festivals for film students, alumni, and the local, national, and international film community: the 48 Hour Film Fest, Spring Flicks, and the Nevada Women's Film Festival, all of which culminate in screening and award ceremonies, and opportunities for entries to screen at festivals across the world.

48 Hour Film Fest

Each fall, the Department of Film sponsors the 48 Hour Film Fest at UNLV. Participants are given 48 hours to write, shoot, and edit a short film. The finished films are screened in front of an audience and are voted on by a panel of judges that includes industry professionals. The winning film receives a grand prize and boasting rights.

Spring Flicks

Each spring for over twenty-five years, the Department of Film has been pleased to sponsor an annual festival to celebrate and showcase the art of short films. Filmmaking teams submitting to Spring Flicks must be led by UNLV students and/or alumni, though they may collaborate with individuals 18 years of age and older from outside of UNLV. The screenings for the festival are free and members of the public are welcome.

Nevada Women's Film Festival

The Department of Film is proud to co-sponsor the Nevada Women’s Film Festival. Established in 2015, NWFFest celebrates and supports the fair representation of women in cinema, both locally and internationally. It regularly honors distinguished UNLV alumni for excellence in their craft, and provides a platform for student filmmakers to appear alongside prestigious independent artists from all over the world.
