The "Outstanding Student in Economics" is awarded annually in the spring and is selected by the Economics faculty to recognize exceptional talent and achievement. Criteria for winning this award include, among other factors, excellent overall grades (especially in economics courses), involvement in university and community organizations, and excellence in undergraduate research. The recipient of this award is also considered for the Achieve Scholarship.

Notably, two of our esteemed faculty members, Eric Chiang, Ph.D. (1997) and Shawn McCoy, Ph.D. (2009), are past recipients of this award, showcasing their academic excellence and continued contributions to the field of economics.

How to Apply

To apply and be considered for this award, you must complete the Lee Business School Scholarship Application before February 14 of each year.

Applicants must be an undergraduate economics major with an overall GPA of 3.5 or higher. It is strongly encouraged to also submit a short essay (less than 150 words) summarizing your key achievements and activities at UNLV.
