Funding Opportunities for Economics Majors and Graduate Students

The Department of Economics offers funding opportunities through a variety of scholarships, fellowships, and graduate assistantships.

Scholarships and Fellowships

Undergraduate and Graduate Students may apply for scholarships from the Lee Business School. The following link provides information on departmental and college scholarships, due dates, and a link to the application.

Graduate students may also apply for scholarships offered by the UNLV Graduate College on the New Student Funding page.

Graduate Assistantships

University-sponsored graduate assistantships provide students a stipend ($17,000 for the 2024-25 academic year), along with a tuition waiver for 9 credits per semester and health benefits. The waiver covers most of the per-credit-hour fee, and also covers the out-of-state tuition. Graduate assistants work 20 hours per week with faculty in both teaching and research roles. Assistantships are offered for a full academic year. Students interested in applying for a graduate assistantship must be accepted into the Master of Arts in Quantitative Business Economics or the Master of Science in Applied Economics and Data Intelligence programs to be eligible. The department awards graduate assistantships through a competitive process. Information on graduate assistantships along with the application link can be found on the Graduate Assistants page.
