Professional Training
UNLV's Student Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) offers an APA-accredited Doctoral Internship in Health Service Psychology and a practicum program for graduate students in training. The doctoral internship is designed to train interns to be competent generalists. Interns gain experience by participating in a wide range of supervised professional activities within a major university counseling center, with activities including (but not limited to) direct intervention with client's, crisis assessment, process and psychoeducational group co-facilitation, supervision experience, rotation areas, outreach opportunities, and a variety of seminars with the goal of cultivating clinical and professional competence. Clinical training and supervision is offered for graduate students in clinical psychology, couple and family therapy, and social work to meet practicum needs. We hope the information in the links below provides you a sense of what you might gain by participating in one of our training programs. For more information about the UNLV CAPS Training Program, please contact the Assistant Director for Training, Dr. Sonaly Silva.
