Our mission is to advance research, education, and practice to benefit brain health and the care and treatment of people with brain disorders
across the lifespan. Our faculty specialize in several areas that range from basic to clinical research in neurodegenerative disease and stroke.

Research
Research in the department of brain health spans multiple levels to advance our understanding of brain function and conduct impactful and translational investigations of brain health throughout the lifespan, with particular emphasis on neurodegenerative disorders. Our research involves multiple collaborators at UNLV, in Las Vegas, and throughout the world, as well as numerous students and trainees as part of the interdisciplinary neuroscience PhD program and undergraduate research assistants.
Academic Program
PhD in Neuroscience
This interdisciplinary PhD program provides coursework and research training in neuroscience, with research mentoring spanning a range of different dimensions (basic to applied/clinical neuroscience, molecular to cognitive neuroscience, various types of nervous system measurement approaches, etc.). This program prepares graduates to pursue post-doctoral research and independent research careers in neuroscience and related fields in academic, medical, government, or private industry settings and is offered through the collaboration of several colleges and units at UNLV.
