Whether you have an undergraduate degree in accounting or another subject, the MSA curriculum allows you to customize your education to prepare you to meet your professional aspirations. Course offerings include advanced topics in financial accounting, federal taxation, managerial accounting, auditing and assurance, technology and accounting information systems, and research. The curriculum allows you to customize your education to prepare you to meet your professional aspirations and includes the opportunity to incorporate graduate courses from other business and research disciplines.

The Department of Accounting, Beta Alpha Psi, and the IMA student chapter student organization work to provide connections between students and professionals. Events like the annual Employers Night, on-campus recruiting, and office visits help students explore many aspects of accounting and build relationships with future employers. Professionals also participate in the classroom by sharing their knowledge and experience to help you explore the environment and practice of accounting.

The UNLV Department of Accounting is also one of a select group of schools to be endorsed by the Institute of Internal Auditors as an IIA Educational Partnership school. Students can participate in the IIAEP Program as part of their MSA and earn an Internal Audit Certificate along with their degree.

The MSA program is only successful if you are, and one of the goals of the program is that you have a job when you are finished. Through the Department of Accounting, MSA students benefit from active on-campus recruiting, frequent communication about available accounting jobs, and paid internship opportunities. The Lee Business School also provides additional Career Services tailored to business students.

Although an MSA degree does not guarantee job placement, the UNLV MSA program has had tremendous placement success and provides opportunities you likely won’t find in other degree programs.

The Department of Accounting is also separately accredited by AACSB International.
