About ASC Tutoring at Lied Library
ASC Writing Tutors offer short drop-in writing consultations for up to 3 students per hour. These sessions are ideal for students who want brief writing questions answered, feedback on short writing passages, and supervised writing time.
If one student is present, the student will receive up to 45 minutes of personalized writing support.
If more than one student is present, each student will receive 20 minutes of personalized writing support per hour.
The ASC Tutoring space is located on the first floor of Lied Library, room 1280 (by The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf).
What to Expect
- You must check-in for tutoring services at the Front Desk.
- You must complete the intake sheet provided by the Writing Tutor prior to the consultation.
- The Writing Tutor will work with up to 3 students at a time. Additional students will need to wait, visit at another time, or go to the Writing Center to receive support.
Policies for the ASC Tutoring Center
You may receive no more than 45 minutes of interaction with the ASC Writing Tutor per day.
Required Documents
You must bring two printed copies of your piece of writing or one printed copy and a laptop or tablet. You should also bring the prompt/assignment instructions and any notes, sources, or ideas that would aid the conversation about your paper.
Printing is available in the UNLV Library. You will need to have money on your RebelCard.
Notifying an Instructor
We are able to notify your instructor, coach, and/or advisor of your consultation. Read our instructor notification policies for more information.
About Athletics Tutoring
Athletics Writing Tutors offer one-to-one drop-in writing consultations.
All sessions begin on the hour and half hour and typically last 30 minutes, though maybe extended to 45 minutes if no other writer is waiting.
These sessions are ideal for students who want to review their writing or want a few writing questions answered.
What to Expect
- You may sign in on the iPad prior to starting their consultation to let your advisor know you attended a session.
- You must complete the intake sheet provided by the Writing Tutor prior to the consultation.
- The Writing Tutor will work with one student at a time. Additional students will need to wait, visit at another time, or go to the Writing Center to receive support.
- Consultations are typically 30 minutes long and begin and end on the hour or half hour mark (e.g., a consultation starting at 10:00 a.m. will end at 10:30 a.m. and a consultation starting at 12:30 p.m. will end at 1:00 p.m.).
