March 2025 Rebel Accessibility Hero

The UNLV offices of educational compliance and accessibility resources recognize Deana Waddell, senior director of Web and Digital Strategy, as our March 2025 Rebel Accessibility Hero.

Bridgette Perreault, the Office of Accessibility Resources' accessibility conformance and design specialist, offered these words in her nomination:

Deana Waddell has demonstrated exceptional leadership and dedication to ensuring digital accessibility across our university's web presence. Her collaborative efforts with the Office of Educational Compliance, Office of Accessibility Resources, Disability Resource Center, UNLV Online, and the Office of Information Technology, particularly in supporting the Accessibility Compliance Group's "Strategic Plan for Course Content," have been instrumental in preparing our university for the new Title II ADA regulations.

Deana consistently champions a user-centered approach, ensuring that our diverse audiences can easily and equally access vital information. By leveraging her expertise in web accessibility, she not only upholds our university's mission but also sets a standard for inclusive digital practices. In addition to her professional achievements, Deana, consistently goes above and beyond to support her colleagues and contribute to a positive and inclusive work environment. Her dedication to fostering a culture of accessibility within the Web and Digital Strategy department and across the university makes her a truly deserving recipient of this award.
