William R. Speer (Math Learning Center) was honored this month as the recipient of the James W. Heddens Distinguished Service Award presented by the Research Council on Mathematics Learning at the 46th annual meeting of the organization at University of North Carolina, Charlotte.
David G. Schwartz (Faculty Affairs) delivered a talk, "Where Is Las Vegas Going in the 2020s?" for the Economic Club of Las Vegas. Drawing on his work in gaming history and his analysis of past statistical patterns, he discussed several trends he believes will steer the casino and tourism industries in Southern Nevada over the coming decade.

Patricia "Trish" Suske (Summer Term ) was sworn in as president of the Western Association of Summer Session Administrators (WASSA) at the 71st annual Conference that took place in Golden, Colorado, in September. She was also this year's recipient of the association's Distinguished Service Award for her many years of dedication and leadership.
