The UNLV Research Foundation approved an agreement with Gardner Nevada Tech Park Studios to oversee the development of a 34-acre media production and multi-use facility complex at the university’s Harry Reid Research & Technology Park in southwest Las Vegas, officials said this morning.
New film studios in the southwest Las Vegas valley have received a green light from UNLV. The university announced that the UNLV Research Foundation last week approved an agreement to develop a 34-acre media production complex at the Harry Reid Research & Technology Park.
UNLV revealed new details about its planned movie studio complex on Tuesday. The UNLV Research Foundation approved an agreement with Gardner Nevada Tech Park Studios to oversee the 34-acre development last week. Gardner will also work with Birtcher Development -- a real estate company that has been involved in other movie-related projects, such as the Academy of Television, Arts & Sciences headquarters and screening rooms in North Hollywood and the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood -- and The MBS Group,the largest studio operator and production services company in the world.
The UNLV Athletics program received a $1.05 million donation for its “Rebel Up” campaign. The donation is thanks to Diana Bennett. UNLV Athletics says Bennett served as the chair of the UNLV Foundation Board of Trustees from 2020-2022 and has been a board member since 2008. The donation will establish the creation of the Diana Bennett Career Development Program for Women’s Sports.
A gaming executive has committed over $1 million to help launch a new career development program at UNLV for women student-athletes. Paragon Gaming CEO Diana Bennett's donation will go toward creating the new initiative, which is set to launch this coming fall semester, UNLV announced Wednesday.
UNLV united the Las Vegas community for a weekend of family fun. The university kicked off a variety of events on Saturday to give back to those in need and celebrate its many students. Staff and student-athletes joined forces for the Build a Bed Project. The partnership with "Sleep in Heavenly Peace" helped provide beds for over 4,000 underprivileged kids in Clark County and enforced their motto of "No Kid Sleeps on the Floor in our Town."
The resources include a mental health reimbursement program.

UNLV President Keith Whitfield honored the officers who responded to the Dec. 6 deadly campus shooting. Detective Nate Drum and Officer Damian Garcia were recognized for their heroic actions when a gunman fatally shot three professors and injured a fourth on campus.
UNLV held a town hall on Monday to update university staff members, students, and the public on recovery efforts since the shooting last December. UNLV President Dr. Keith Whitfield started the town hall by recognizing the officers who helped stop the shooter on Dec. 6, 2023. Those two officers were Detective Nathaniel Drum and Officer Damian Garcia of the University Police Department.
UNLV will reopen the classroom complex where an active shooter last December killed three professors and wounded another, officials said today. Beam Hall, which has been closed for repairs since the tragedy, will hold about 160 classes in the fall, Provost Chris Heavey said during a meeting updating university leaders on the campus recovery following the Dec. 6., 2023 shooting.
