The UNLV Wind Orchestra presents the 7th Annual “The President’s Concert" at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 29 in Artemus W. Ham Concert Hall. The concert is a special celebration of the military heroes, first responders, and public servants who help keep our nation safe, as well as the incredibly honorable Las Vegans who have been awarded the French Legion of Honor.
Tickets are $20, and discounts are available. Tickets may be purchased at the Performing Arts Center Box Office, online, or at 702-895-ARTS (2787).
In addition to numerous accolades over the years, the orchestra was named the second-prize winner for The American Prize Ernst Bacon Memorial Award for the Performance of American Music, College/University ensemble division, 2021, and most recently won the Global Music Award for Outstanding Achievement for the release of their newest album, Joe's Tango. The group is one of only two collegiate wind ensembles to win this award in 2023. Additionally, the wind orchestra has been awarded second place for the Ernst Bacon Award multiple times over the past seven years.
"The President's Concert" features Thomas G. Leslie, artistic director and conductor; guest conductors Col. John R. Bourgeois, director emeritus, United States Marine Band, “The President’s Own,” and Zane S. Douglass, UNLV assistant professor of conducting.
