UNLV’s national award-winning opera program announces their fall chamber opera production. UNLV Opera Workshop II presents the one-act operas Three Sisters Who Are Not Sisters and How Clear She Shines! November 14-15, 2024 at 7:30 p.m. in Dr. Arturo Rando-Grillot Recital Hall. Three Sisters Who Are Not Sisters (music by Ned Rorem, libretto by Gertrude Stein) is a surreal murder mystery. How Clear She Shines! (music by Linda Lister, libretto based on the writings of the Brontë sisters) is an exploration of the lives and writings of Charlotte, Emily, and Anne Brontë; UNLV Opera is premiering the newly revised version of How Clear She Shines! featuring new dialogue and a new duet.

This double bill of sister-themed one-act operas is conducted by Darryl Cooper. Doctoral student Courtney Schwalbe directs Three Sisters Who Are Not Sisters, which features Kelsey Lee, Dasia Intil, Danielle Noletto, Jinjin Wang, Pauline Tamale, Hongyu Mu, Christian Shelton, LaVell Thompson Jr., and Aaron Oberlander. Linda Lister directs How Clear She Shines! which stars Elisabeth Leone and Pauline Tamale as Charlotte Brontë, Valeria Dapena Torres and Kelsey Lee as Emily Brontë, and Alexia Hamilton and Danielle Noletto as Anne Brontë. Spencer Baker is the collaborative pianist for the production.
