UNLV Jazz celebrates the release of its latest CD, "Smoke in Mirrors," with a concert at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 21, in Artemus Ham Concert Hall. The concert features the multiple Downbeat Award-winning UNLV Jazz Ensemble I, led by Dave Loeb and Nathan Tanouye, and the UNLV Latin Jazz Ensemble, led by Uli Geissendoerfer. Special guest artist is multi-woodwind specialist Bob Sheppard.
Sheppard is a first-call musician in the jazz, pop, and the studio worlds. He has been a steadfast member of the Billy Childs Ensembles and the Peter Erskine trio for more than a decade. Additionally over the years, he has toured with Steely Dan, Boz Scaggs, James Taylor, Natalie Cole, Queen Latifah, Herbie Hancock, and Joni Mitchell.
