UNLV Jazz Ensemble I celebrates the release of its new album, Extra Credit/Latin Journey II, with a concert at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2, in the Judy Bayley Theatre. New jazz faculty member and accomplished professional musician Adam Schroeder is featured on a tune with the ensemble.

Accomplishments of the UNLV Jazz Ensemble include being named winners of Down Beat Magazine Student Music Awards Large Jazz Ensemble Graduate College Outstanding Performance; touring Europe, Japan, Poland, South America, Spain, Portugal, and Morocco; performing at the San Sebastian Jazz Festival; sharing top billing with the Freddie Hubbard Sextet; being featured in concerts and recordings with artists-in-residence and special guest artists throughout the year; recording several CDs that have received critical acclaim, including the Downbeat Five-Star Award for Muy Caliente; being named Reno Jazz Festival Winner College Combo Division and Outstanding College Performers; being named Monterey Next Generation Jazz Festival College Big Band Finalist; and performing in concert with Manhattan Transfer, Bebe Neuwirth, Ben Vereen, Marvin Hamlish, Tommy Tune and the casts of Forbidden Broadway, and Jeckyll and Hyde.
