The UNLV department of dance, in collaboration with the UNLV Symphony Orchestra, is proud to present a historic reconstruction of Nijinsky's 1912 work, L'Apr?s-midi d'un Faune (Afternoon of a Faun) at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18, and at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, in Artemus Ham Concert Hall. Music and dance pioneer Anne Hutchinson is setting the piece.
The ballet is reconstructed from Nijinsky's own choreographic notation and transcribed into Labanotation (a notation system for recording and analyzing human movement) by Hutchinson and Claudia Jeschke.
In addition, Ravel's 'Mother Goose Suite' and Stravinsky's 'Rite of Spring' will be performed.
