The UNLV department of dance will present a pop-up dance concert at 11 a.m. April 20 at the UNLV Lee Pascal Rose Garden next to the Ham Fine Arts building.
The event celebrates the end of the semester, all that has been accomplished during the pandemic, and our hopes for movement and dance for the future.
The program includes a ballet barre warmup on the steps that lead to the Klaus Oldenburg/Coosje Van Bruggen Flashlight. They will then move to the Lee Pascal Rose Garden for ballet variations. Next they will shift toward the student union where BFA senior Karly Meehan will present excerpts from her newest choreography. The program concludes with a final improv called "Waking from the Dream." This work will explore aspects of waking, reaching, coming together, and moving toward the future. This improv will feature improvised dancing accompanied by the jazz saxophone improvisation of UNLV School of Music professor Adam Schroeder.
The event is free and all are welcome.
