The UNLV department of dance is proud to open its 2022-23 season with Firebird at 7:30 p.m. on Oct 21, and 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 22 in Artemus W. Ham Concert Hall. The concert features a reimagining of the 1910 Ballet Russe work, Firebird, with music by Igor Stravinsky.
Work includes choreography from dance faculty members Dolly Kelepecz, Cathy Allen, Victoria Dale, and Jason Hortin. Set design is by dance chair Louis Kavouras, with lighting design by Michael Jarrett.
"This is an exciting concert," said Kelepecz. "We have recreated the piece with striking elements, including hip hop with ballet and contemporary dance. It's definitely a must-see."
