The UNLV Chamber Music Society continues its season with WindSync at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, in the Rando-Grillot Recital Hall of the Beam Music Center.
WindSync is five outstanding North American wind musicians who come together as performers, educators, and community-builders. Their concerts are intimate, joyful, and thoughtfully programmed with people and places in mind. The quintet eliminates the "fourth wall" between performers and audience by performing from memory, connecting quickly and memorably with audiences. In 2018, they were named finalists in the prestigious M-Prize Chamber Arts Competition, and they are recent winners of the Concert Artists Guild and Frisco national competitions.
Tickets
All tickets to WindSync are $30 and can be purchased through the Performing Arts Center box office or by calling 702-895-ARTS (2787). A $1.50 facilities fee, in addition to the ticket price, is charged on all Performing Arts Center tickets. The box office is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
History
The UNLV Chamber Music Society was created in 2012 to fill a void in the chamber music community in Southern Nevada. Until this society was introduced, there were no established chamber music societies in all of Southern Nevada, despite the community of artists and students who could appreciate and benefit from it. The many ensembles who have performed in the six-year history of the society include the Parker String Quartet, the American String Quartet, the Fry Street String Quartet, Boston Brass, Zephyros Winds, Horszowski Trio, and the Dorian Wind Quintet.
Chamber Music Society
Educational outreach is an important feature of our society, and each invited chamber ensemble performs masterclasses and clinics where students work with these talented artists. Students learn the essential techniques of chamber music playing from some of the best musicians in the country. In addition to the invited ensembles, the UNLV Chamber Music Society also showcases local musicians, giving them a world-class stage and an established venue through which they can create and perform. This society is devoted to classical music, executed at the highest level, and delivered to audiences who are unable to attend anything similar at a local venue.
About the PAC
The UNLV Performing Arts Center is Southern Nevada's first home for the arts; it opened in 1976 and celebrates its 44th season this year. It hosts a variety of performances and events and is home to productions presented by the Nevada Conservatory Theatre, UNLV School of Music, UNLV Dance, Desert Chorale, and the Southern Nevada Musical Arts Society. The UNLV PAC also is pleased to host various Clark County School District fine arts festivals and concerts.
