The Barrick Lecture Series presents nationally and internationally known speakers through a generous grant from philanthropist Marjorie Barrick.
Soledad O'Brien is an award-winning journalist, documentarian and producer. Her many honors include three Emmy awards and two George Foster Peabody awards. She was named journalist of the year by the National Association of Black Journalists. In 2013 O'Brien launched Starfish Media Group, a multi-platform media production and distribution company.
Benjamin Jealous is the former president and CEO of the NAACP. He has been a leader of successful state and local movements to ban the death penalty, outlaw racial profiling, defend voting rights, and secure marriage equality.
Rita Moreno is an award-winning singer, dancer and actress. She has won each of entertainment's most prestigious awards: The Oscar, The Emmy, The Tony, and The Grammy. Her book, "Rita Moreno: A Memoir," was a New York Times bestseller.
Judge Richard Boulware II was nominated to the United States District Court by President Barack Obama. Prior to taking the bench, Boulware was a trial attorney in the Federal Public Defender's Offices in Las Vegas and New York City. The Nevada Attorneys for Criminal Justice gave Boulware the Dedicated Service award in 2013.
Tickets
Tickets are limited to two per person for this event. UNLV employees and students may pick up their tickets starting 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 1. The general public may get their tickets beginning 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4.
