The Nevada Conservatory Theatre at UNLV (NCT) is excited to announce the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation has selected it as the recipient of a $250,000 grant. The grant will fund the fall 2014 production of "The Last Five Years," purchase technology to enhance the Judy Bayley Theatre, and support guest artists-in-residence. It is being made in honor of Dr. Keith Bowman for his years of dedicated service as a trustee of the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation.
"The significance of this grant cannot be understated," said Brackley Frayer, NCT executive director. "These funds will be used to bring our organization to a level that serves to further elevate not only UNLV, but the entire region."
About NCT
The Nevada Conservatory Theatre at UNLV is among the most distinguished cultural institutions in Southern Nevada, and the public laboratory of the department's professional training program both, at the graduate and undergraduate levels. It features professional actors, playwrights, designers, technicians, and directors performing along-side UNLV's most advanced students. It continues to attract the highest level of student performers, designers, playwrights, and technologists from around the nation.
It is a light in the community seeking to assist its citizens in the search for self-knowledge, to instruct, delight, and explore the principles worth living. In this way, the department of theatre exemplifies UNLV's vision as a premiere metropolitan campus responsive to the needs of the local and regional community. It is a model of how to build a professional theatre while keeping expenses and ticket prices low.
Christopher Edwards, the new artistic director for the NCT said, "It is an exciting time for NCT and the generosity of the Reynolds Foundation will help reinvigorate and evolve our programming and artistic profile in the community and nationally. We are extremely grateful and excited about the many possibilities it will afford."'
