The Nevada Conservatory Theatre presents Cole Porter's musical comedy "Kiss Me Kate" April 29-May 8 in the Judy Bayley Theatre. This great American classic features the best of composer-lyricist Porter, with such hits as "Too Darn Hot," "So In Love," and, of course, "Brush Up Your Shakespeare." Russell Treyz directs, with choreography by Angelo Moio and musical direction by Christopher Lash.
Treyz, based in New York City, has directed at Playwright’s Horizons, American Place Theater, Gym at Judson, La Mama ETC, and Pearl Theater Co. His regional credits include Alabama Shakespeare Festival, Orlando Shakespeare Theatre, Florida Studio Theater, McCarter Theater, Goodspeed Opera House, Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival, and Northshore Music Theater. His favorite productions are "King John" and "Midsummer Night’s Dream" (Utah Shakespearean Festival), "Mass Appeal" (Actors Theater of Louisville), "To Kill a Mockingbird" (Arts Center of Coastal Carolina), David Ives’s "The Liar" (Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival), and "The Cocktail Hour" (Cape Playhouse). He is co-author of "Cotton Patch Gospel" (music and lyrics by Harry Chapin). Treyz is a graduate of Princeton (BA) and Yale (MFA), and the winner of the Drama Desk Award.
