The Nevada Conservatory Theatre (NCT) presents Federico García Lorca’s Blood Wedding March 8-17 in the Black Box Theatre. Allegra Libonati directs.
On the morning of her arranged wedding, a young bride is visited by the former love of her life. Old passions of love and hate are rekindled when the two lovers escape together. Can their fervent ardor overcome the strictures of Catholic Spanish society? Through the lyrically haunting landscape of poet Federico García Lorca’s moon-soaked imagination, we see the penalties and the pleasures of rebelling against the status quo.
Libonati is a freelance director for theater and opera. She has worked the past nine years at the American Repertory Theater as resident director, she was the assistant director on the Tony Award-winning Broadway revival of Hair, and has directed for theater companies both nationally and internationally. As a lover of music, circus, magic, dance, masks, and puppets, she often incorporates these theatrical elements into her work.
The cast includes Amanda Guardado as Bride; Jacob Sidhom as Bridegroom; Alexander Vincent Sireci as Leonardo; Keach Siriani-Madden as Father; Isabela Becker as Neighbor/First Girl; Alyssa Tortomasi as Maid; Ruliko Cronin as Beggar Woman; Ryan Baker as Moon; Juliana Martin as Mother-in-Law; Aviana Glover as Wife; Nicole Holbrook as Mother; Vivienne Bustillos as Girl; Arielle Atkinson as Second Girl; Kristina Kirkpatrick as Third Girl; Karsyn Wilson as First Woodcutter; Dawson Mullen as Second Woodcutter; Marcus Martinez as Third Woodcutter, and Daniel Shim as Ensemble.
