The UNLV Performing Arts Center proudly continues its series of student performances - Live from the UNLV Performing Arts Center. Opening the spring series is pianist Xiangsheng "Johnson" Qu at 7:30 p.m., Feb.19. Qu is a graduate student in the School of Music, pursuing a doctoral degree in musical arts under the tutelage of professor Mykola Suk.
Qu has been an active performer around the valley since coming to Las Vegas, and his repertoire ranges from baroque to jazz. He graduated from the Sichuan Conservatory of Music in 2011, majoring music performance. In 2014, he received a master’s degree of musicology from the conservatory, and in 2018, he received dual master’s degrees in jazz and piano performance from the University of New Orleans. Qu will perform works by Nikolai Kapustin, Russian composer and pianist.
The event is free, but RSVP is required.
The concert is a joint presentation of the Performing Arts Center and School of Music.

The UNLV Performing Arts Center is Southern Nevada's first home for the arts; it opened in 1976 and celebrates its 45th season this year. It hosts a variety of performances and events and is home to productions presented by the Nevada Conservatory Theatre, UNLV School of Music, UNLV Dance, Desert Chorale, and the Southern Nevada Musical Arts Society.
