The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) today announced a $1 million donation from KONAMI Corporation to support the William F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration faculty, staff and students.
"We are deeply grateful for the generosity and support of KONAMI," said UNLV President Neal Smatresk. "With this focused investment in our gaming management program--including the formation of a scholarship endowment that will benefit students in perpetuity--KONAMI has become a valued partner in maintaining high-quality academic programs and student support in our hotel college."
The KONAMI Gaming Fund will be allocated to three areas of the Harrah Hotel College:
- $50,000 of unrestricted funds to the UNLV Foundation Annual Fund, for a five-year membership in the Academic Corporate Council annual giving program
- $450,000 of unrestricted funds for the hotel college to use at its discretion
- $500,000 to support an endowment that helps pay for gaming management students to pursue professional development opportunities
In recognition of the company's support of gaming education, the gaming lab located in the UNLV Stan Fulton Building will be formally named the KONAMI Gaming Laboratory.
