The UNLV College of Fine Arts debuted a new show on its YouTube channel Monday — UNLV Arts Worldwide — with a new episode airing each Monday at 6 p.m. The intent of the program, according to Dean Nancy Uscher, is to demonstrate how the arts are ingrained in daily life and how the college can give a more personal view of art than in a gallery or concert hall.
Uscher says of the project, “It’s evolving. It’s informal. We’ll take some risks. It’s our chance to really experiment, and figure out what is the widest range of experiences we can share."
The show will revisit the theme that "The arts are essential," she said. “What our faculty and staff do every single day — as teachers, researchers, performers, architects, art-makers, creators — is critical to the health and wellbeing of our society.”
The episodes are curated by chair of the dance department, Louis Kavouras, with programming assistance by a college committee. The first episode was titled "Art as Meaning." Subsequent episodes will focus on "Beauty as Meaning," "Health and Wellness as Meaning," and "Global and International Meaning."
