Prolific Las Vegas artist Lincoln Maynard brings his vision to the UNLV Barrick Museum July 15 - Sept. 10 for a solo exhibition entitled Urbis Octaptych: The City... the times, the promise. Curated by Brian Alvarez in cooperation with Aurore Giguet, Barrick Museum program director, the exhibit uses the museum's large walls and open floor space to create an event expressing the unfocused and unspecific options facing individuals, cities and, in this case, institutions. This Octaptych - eight 6' X 5' similar city windows, is intended to allow the viewer to use their vision to fill the windows or assimilate their emptiness.
Also on display is a smaller version of Maynard's Urbis Octaptych, eight paintings that will be included in a silent auction to benefit the UNLV Marjorie Barrick Museum. Adjacent to the main exhibition space, Maynard will be exhibiting select paintings from his personal collection. Maynard's works are textural studies in line, form, color, and scale, and are inspired by the desert landscape and architectural cityscape of the Las Vegas Valley.
