Hospital staffing remains in ‘crisis’ as hospital bed occupancy rises to 98% in Clark County

Hospitals around Las Vegas continue to struggle with staffing issues. Nurses are part of that equation. While nursing shortages are nothing new, they have increased due to burnout from the COVID-19 pandemic. Still, local nursing programs like the UNLV School of Nursing are seeing an increased interest in new students who want to step in to help and learn. We take you inside some of their training at the Clinical Simulation Center of Las Vegas to see how they get some hands-on experience before they join the workforce!

In southern Nevada, the University of Nevada, Las Vegas is holding about 60% of its classes in-person. Epidemiologist Brian Labus told FOX-5 that there weren’t signs that community spread originating at universities was affecting the broader Las Vegas metro population.
