UNLV President Keith Whitfield will remain on the job for another four years. The Nevada Board of Regents voted to approve a new contract during a Friday meeting at Desert Research Institute in Las Vegas. 

UNLV President Keith E. Whitfield’s four-year contract was renewed Friday by the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE), according to a news release.

The UNLV president is extending his time with the school. The Board of Regents of the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) renewed the four-year contract for President Keith E. Whitfield on Friday. 

University of Nevada, Las Vegas President Keith E. Whitfield will continue to lead the university for the next four years.

Nevada’s education system faces many challenges, and its K-12 schools consistently rank among the worst in the nation for proficiency levels in English and math, high school graduation rates, per-pupil funding and other measures. And, the state’s two largest school districts, Washoe County and Clark County, both lost their superintendents in February.

A recent mental health town hall is focusing on something a little different this year almost three months following a deadly campus shooting.

The West Las Vegas Library has served as a community anchor to the Historic Westside for 50 years. Today, the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District announced that the West Las Library’s role in the community is expanding with a new 41,178 square-foot, state-of-the-art branch. A groundbreaking celebration was held on Feb. 27, 2024, at 1861 N. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd, the location of the new library, which is slated to open in Fall 2025.

Less than three months after a deadly shooting took place on UNLV's campus; Students, faculty, and staff came together Tuesday for a mental health discussion. "If you want people to be vulnerable, you have to be vulnerable yourself," UNLV president, Keith Whitfield shared.
