Nevada’s Democratic delegates unanimously supported Vice President Kamala Harris’ nomination for president, the state party announced Monday. All 49 Nevada delegates met and supported the nomination of Harris, who now has enough delegates to be the nominee.

While last week’s debate prompted further concerns about President Joe Biden’s cognitive fitness among pundits and some national Democrats, both Nevada Democrats and Republicans are shying away from the topic on the campaign trail.

All eyes will be on Nevada’s U.S. Senate race in the fall, when Democratic Sen. Jacky Rosen is widely expected to face a tough bid for reelection in this battleground state. But before that can happen, Republicans must first select a candidate to go up against her in November.

Nevada residents are paying more for groceries than residents of almost any other state, and home prices continue to rise. The state’s unemployment rate continues to be one of the highest in the country, and inflation increased by 9 percent between May 2020 and June 2022. But the state’s labor force is growing, its unemployment rate is slowly decreasing, and the inflation rate has dipped from 9 percent to 3.2 percent in February 2024.

Facing long lines and nippy weather, more Nevada Republicans than the Nevada GOP had expected came out to their caucus locations to show support for former President Donald Trump. Some voters expressed frustration and called the processes disorganized, begging the question: Will the Nevada Republican Party try to do it again?

Trump is the only major Republican candidate running in the caucuses after former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley took part in the state’s primary on Tuesday.

For Nikki Haley, the Republican primary in Nevada was a real failure. It was already clear beforehand that she definitely wouldn't get a single delegate vote there. This was due to a dispute between the state and the Republicans. They boycotted the state-organized primary on February 6th and are holding their own caucus on February 8th. Haley ran in the primary, Trump is running in the caucus. The delegates' votes are only awarded at the election meeting.

Nevada's Republican voters have overwhelmingly chosen "none of these candidates" as their choice in the state's GOP primary, an embarrassing blow for former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, who was essentially running unopposed.
