Every year, Rebels Give raises money for a diverse array of UNLV causes — from student scholarships, athletics, and innovative programs to research, food insecurity, and the arts. It’s a day for our entire community of students, alumni, faculty, and staff to come together as one Rebel family and support the school we love.
Since Rebels Give launched in 2018, nearly 10,000 gifts have resulted in $2.3 million, supporting causes across campus.
This year, the annual crowdfunding drive is partnering with UNLV alum-owned Makers & Finders. The local family restaurant will offer a special Rebels Give menu throughout March, with $5 from every order going to the College of Liberal Arts and the UNLV Food Pantry. UNLV supporters can enjoy specialty coffee and delicious empanadas while contributing to Rebels Give!
The spirited Rebels Give Pie on Pida event will return to Pida Plaza on March 21, giving students the prized opportunity to cover university leaders in whipped cream confections from 11-11:30 a.m. Pies are only $5, and students will also receive special engagement passports and Rebels Give swag, including T-shirts, stickers, and jibbitz, or Croc charms. A DJ, food, photo booth, and other activities will keep the party going until 12:30 p.m.
Gifts can be made throughout the day online or in-person at all Rebels Give events. Everyone is encouraged to post about Rebels Give on their social media using the #RebelsGive hashtag and to watch for social media challenges.
Students can sign up to be Rebels Give Ambassadors and promote giving to their networks. It’s one more way to get a free T-shirt! Also, students who give through the Rebel Legacy student philanthropy initiative will receive a special green generosity cord to wear during commencement.
Anyone donating $75 or more will receive a pair of striped Rebels Give socks while supplies last.
“Rebels Give encourages the UNLV community to unite, inspire, and elevate the spirit of generosity,” says Arianne Yago-Kippen, director of Annual Giving. “We are really excited about our Rebels Give socks this year, and encourage the community to join us as we step into making a significant impact.”
Gifts of all size matter, whether a person can give $5 or $5,000, Yago-Kippen emphasizes. “Every donation supports current and future students and programs. This is how you can create lasting, positive change.”
