The College of Hospitality recently launched a virtual tour on the college website, giving student recruits and their parents the opportunity to explore UNLV without ever stepping foot on campus.
Virtual visitors experience 360-degree views of key spaces inside the college’s ultra-modern academic building, Hospitality Hall. Stops, including the grand lobby, technology classrooms, the golf center, and executive kitchen, are accompanied by narrated descriptions. The tour also shows visitors central campus locations, like the Lied Library, Student Wellness Center, and student housing.
“The tour is a critical tool for us as we look for ways to engage students in a virtual environment during this period of social distancing,” said Hospitality College Dean Stowe Shoemaker.
The tour represents the first phase of a two-part creative process. Phase 2, which will likely be completed in the fall, will incorporate an on-screen virtual tour guide, a walking tour of campus, and interactive elements, like “action zones” where students, alumni and faculty can be activated within certain scenes.
