Why I’m a proud graduate of UNLV …
As the middle son of a single mom who stressed the importance of education, completing my bachelor of science degree in business management confirmed for me, at a young age, that I could achieve any goal I set. My degree from UNLV’s business college instilled in me a confidence that I previously did not possess. It allowed me to begin a career in banking and finance that has led to many personal and professional successes in my 35-year career.
I have often wondered where I would be today had I not completed my undergraduate education at UNLV. I suspect my career as a banking executive would not have occurred, which means I would not have been able to work with my wife, Debbie, to address challenges related to public education. I also would not have been able to serve on many philanthropic boards. My UNLV degree prepared me for many opportunities in life and opened doors in Las Vegas that allowed me to make a difference in my home city. Education is that one asset no one can ever take from you. I’m thankful for the education the many fine UNLV professors provided me; I am proud to be a Rebel!
