In this season of giving, the campus community took a moment to thank UNLV’s many donors who, as one scholarship recipient put it, “changed my entire life path.”

As of early December, more than 9,800 members of our community had contributed to UNLV this year. They supported UNLV programs through more than $31 million in traditional donations, in-kind services, and association memberships.

The “Because of You” video features scholarship recipients in fields as diverse as anthropology and computer engineering as well as faculty whose programs have benefited from private giving, including:

• Oral History Research Center, which records Southern Nevada history through eye-witness accounts
• Center for Gaming Research, a leading national center for a key industry
• The PRACTICE, a community mental health training clinic that provides much-needed services to Las Vegans
• Research in the School of Life Sciences to better understand genetics, cell biology and human diseases.
