Tara McManus, with co-authors and MA graduates Brooke Wolfe and Hannah Novak (all Communication Studies), published an article, “Memorable Messages about Pregnancy and Abortion from the Perspective of College-Enrolled Emerging Adults,” in the journal Health Communication. The study found that college students remember messages about pregnancy that are steeped in political, religious, and gendered ideologies, which create fear but also empower. Memorable abortion messages also are reflective of political, religious, and gendered ideologies, which create fear but are informative.
