Merrill Landers (Physical Therapy), James Navalta (Kinesiology and Nutrition Sciences), and Jefferson Kinney (Psychology) co-authored “A High-Intensity Exercise Boot Camp for Persons With Parkinson Disease: A Phase II, Pragmatic, Randomized Clinical Trial of Feasibility, Safety, Signal of Efficacy, and Disease Mechanisms.” The investigators of this CTR-IN funded study concluded that a high-intensity multimodal exercise program for persons with Parkinson’s Disease produced more improvement across more domains than usual care, and suggests a possible link between improvement in outcomes and an improved anti-inflammatory milieu. The article appeared in the January 2019 issue of the Journal of Neurologic Physical Therapy.
