Marta Soligo (Economic Development; Hospitality) was invited as the guest speaker for the Tourism Think Tank, “Tourism and Memory, dark tourism examples and case studies” organized by the University of Bergamo (Italy). She presented the research, “Tourism in Hollywood cemeteries: A critical approach,” which she conducted with David R. Dickens. The study investigates tourism at four cemeteries in the Los Angeles area: Hollywood Forever, Forest Lawn in Glendale, Forest Lawn in Hollywood, and Pierce Brothers Westwood Village Memorial Park Cemetery. The presentation explored these venues through the lens of dark tourism and celebrity culture, since they are known as “Hollywood memorial parks,” hosting the graves of some of the most famous stars in the world.
