Marta Plominska (Music) recently performed at Columbus State University in a Guest Artist Recital alongside pianist Susan Hoskins. As part of her Post-Doc project, Plominska curated a program celebrating the contributions of female composers. She actively advocates for recognizing women in the music industry and has been featured in the Music of Women Composers Concert Series in Las Vegas, showcasing works by female composers across different musical periods.
The recital's repertoire spans post-romantic pieces by composers like Lili Boulanger and Amy Beach to contemporary works by living composers such as Eugenie Rocherolle and Deborah J. Anderson. Plominska intentionally highlights pieces not yet standardized in the flute world, aiming to establish new norms and increase visibility for women's contributions in music. Her recital is not just a musical journey but also a meaningful statement about acknowledging and celebrating the achievements of women in music.
