Kaleb Wesolek (Art) has received the Spectra Undergraduate Research Journal Cover Artwork Award and will have his artwork featured on the cover of the July issue of the Spectra Undergraduate Research Journal. Sponsored by the office of undergraduate research, the award is designed to foster student participation in the undergraduate research publication process and to better incorporate artistic and creative works into research at UNLV. The award is accompanied by a $500 monetary prize and plaque.
A third-year graphic design major, Wesolek “wanted to remain faithful to this ambition and create a cover wholeheartedly motivated by creativity.” His design represents the journal's logo through an outline of a brain, depicting UNLV’s diverse research through recurring shapes representing brain waves and a tree’s growth rings, and includes lively typography to encourage approachability for viewers.
