Jungsun "Sunny" Kim (Hospitality) and her co-author's paper, "Effects of CSR, Responsible Gambling, and Negative Social Impacts on Perceived Benefits and Quality of Life in Gaming Communities", was published in Tourism Economics. The findings showed that economic corporate social responsibility (CSR) had the strongest impact on residents’ perceived benefits, followed by philanthropic CSR and supplementary responsible gambling. These factors had significant indirect effects on residents’ quality of life via perceived benefits. Residents’ perceived negative social impacts from casino development also was found to significantly influence their perceived benefits and quality of life. This study offers a legitimacy and stakeholder theory-driven approach to examine CSR, negative social impacts and benefits from casino development, and quality of life.
