John Mercer, Cordero Roche, and Karenn Beltran (all Kinesiology and Nutrition Sciences) represented UNLV and the department during the 8th annual Science & Technology Expo in May. They demonstrated research tools, including a force platform, cycle ergometer, electromyography, and hand grip dynamometer that are used in one of the department’s laboratories. Many of the expo’s 14,000 attendees took particular interest in using spring boots during a vertical jump test, and connecting to a program that enabled them to electronically participate in a bicycle race with people from around the world. Roche is a doctoral student, while Beltran is an undergraduate.
