Janet Dufek and Daniel Lidstone (Kinesiology and Nutrition Sciences), along with John Harry, '17 PhD Kinesiology, and Jeffrey Eggleston, '18 PhD Interdisciplinary Health Sciences, co-authored “Weighted Vest Use to Improve Movement Control during Walking in Children with Autism,” which appeared in the May 15 issue of the Translational Journal of the American College of Sports Medicine. Based on the study’s results, the authors recommend that researchers and clinicians interested in evaluating weighted vest use as an intervention to mitigate motor impairment among children within the autism spectrum disorder proceed at the individual level to avoid masking individual responses. Lidstone is a Ph.D. student.
