Graham McGinnis (Kinesiology and Nutrition Sciences) received a research award sponsored by the Regional Alliance of INBRE Networks (RAIN). The title of the award is "Circadian Regulation of Inflammatory Response to PM Exposure. This award is for two years and $20,000 in direct costs. The objective of the funded project is to investigate the consequences of sleep restriction and circadian rhythm disruption on the inflammatory responses to simulated and active season wildland firefighting. This project will inform standards for sleep schedules during active firefighting service, and will create a platform with which we can test countermeasures against sleep deprivation in the future. The project is a collaboration with John Quindry at the University of Montana School of Integrative Physiology and Athletic Training, College of Health.
