Gerilyn Slicker (Early Childhood, Multilingual, and Special Education) published an article, "The Role of State Subsidy Policies in Early Education Programs' Decisions to Accept Subsidies: Evidence from Nationally Representative Data," in Early Education and Development. This study uses a nationwide sample of early education centers and state-level child care subsidy policies to determine the impact of state-specific policies on early education centers decisions to enroll children using child care subsidies. Findings suggest that state policies, especially those that increased revenue for centers accepting subsidies, increased centers' enrollment of children using subsidies. Findings point to meaningful state-level actions and policies that may incentivize centers' acceptance of subsidies.
