Cass Shum, Ankita Ghosh, and Jaimi Garlington (all Hospitality) recently had their article, "Why Won’t She Break Rules to Promote Service? Effects of Gender, Gender Identification, and Honesty," published in the International Journal of Hospitality Management. The paper investigates the gender difference in expressions of honesty and prosocial rule-breaking behaviors. Ghosh is a doctoral student, while Garlington is a master's student.
Shum also is the author of the article "The Recursive Relationship between Abusive Supervision and Service Performance," which appeared in the Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Insights this month. The paper shows that abusive supervision impairs service performance while low service performance provokes abusive supervision. It also suggests that coworker support can mitigate the relationship.
