Cass Shum, Anthony Gatling (both Hospitality) and their co-author's paper "When Do Abusive Leaders Experience Guilt?" recently was published in the International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management. The study showed that abusive leaders are more likely to experience guilt when they have not been exposed to abusive supervision from higher-ups and when the leaders were high in agreeableness. Experienced guilt motivated abusive leader to help their subordinates.
